Leap Year...is a year containing one extra day in order to keep the calendar year synchronized with the astronomical or seasonal year.
The Leap Year I am going to show you is a series of drawings that I made each day, in Leap Year of 2008. The drawings actually started the day January 6th. I had just got back from being at my parents house for a month in Michigan. When I returned to Massachusetts I had no job, it was winter and I wanted something to pass the time. I was a little sad and lonely at the time. I decided drawing every day would at least fill up an hour of my day. At first I was diligant, once alone I would make coffee listen to music and work on the pictures, later in the year, I confess it did become a task. Either way it was often a pleasure.
I have tried to figure out what to do with all these little pictures, a big show in a gallery would be dreamy. However not realistic at the moment. A book of them, also a lofty goal for an emerging artist (as they call my strain of artists), so I choose the blog and email marketing plan.
On December 14th, after moving to a completely new area and not knowing anyone , I tried to think of ways that would connect me and my art to my friends and family that are scattered all over the place. The following list is the plans I came up with on December 14th.
I am going to sell the leap year project:
I plan to release an email with a link to the blog weekly on Wednesdays.
Starting on the first Wednesday of January.
I will include a short writing about the week, and the titles of the images.
I will sell them for eight dollars, which will include packaging and shipping.
They are not framed.
They are each originals.
If you are interested I ask you to send me an email.
I will send the image at the same time you send the eight dollars. On the date we decide.
In with the money/check please tell me why you picked the one you did.
In with the art I will tell you something about the one I am sending you.
This will allow me to practice telling people stories about my art.
And will make it so you know more about the things I make.
So.. .keep those eyeballs peeled, each day, week, month the drawings change, if you would like one send me an email. If you do not just look at the pretty pictures, and enjoy.
